The State Gallery of Lower Austria serves as a home for visual artists from Lower Austria. A fixture of the annual exhibition calendar is the presentation of the Lower Austrian Honorary Prize in the category of Visual Art. To date, Isolde Maria Joham, 2021 Honorary Prize Winner, Thomas Reinhold, 2022 Honorary Prize Winner and Franka Lechner, 2023 Honorary Price Winner have been featured in solo exhibitions. At the beginning of November 2024, the winner of the 2024 Honorary Prize will be announced.

Prizes for great achievements and initiatives in the area of culture

Since 1960, the province of Lower Austria has awarded prizes for great achievements and initiatives in the area of culture. In various categories – from architecture and music to adult education – honorary prizes and recognition awards are presented each year by expert juries, reflecting the broad spectrum of artistic output in Lower Austria. These awards also underscore the superregional significance of the prize winners.

Parallel to the solo exhibition in Krems, the NÖ Dokumentationszentrum für Moderne Kunst in St. Pölten will show works by the recipients of the recognition awards.
